Design challenges

Kaedim

Kaedim is an AI startup transforming the 3D modeling industry by using machine learning algorithms to convert 2D images into digital 3D models, delivering production-ready assets up to 10x faster. During my take-home challenge, I identified a key UX issue: the absence of a proper onboarding process for new users in the app. Without clear guidance on how to use the features or locate assets, new users might experience frustration, leading to potential churn and lower engagement. To address this, I focused on designing an intuitive onboarding flow to enhance user experience and retention, while ensuring the design translated seamlessly to mobile.

Locker

Locker is a popular tool among shoppers nationwide, aiding them in discovering, saving, and organizing their preferred product discoveries. In this hypothetical situation, the company's latest endeavor involves enhancing personalization and overcoming the "cold start problem" by collecting more data from users. My responsibility was to revamp the onboarding process, focusing on guiding users to share their product and brand preferences seamlessly. This involved designing the interface for new users and creating interactive prompts for optimal engagement.

FoodFriends

FoodFriends is a hypothetical mobile app designed to connect individuals for potluck gatherings and friendship-building opportunities within their vicinity, featuring map, chat, and scheduling functionalities. Despite its offerings, the app faces challenges with user retention and feedback indicating issues with its intuitiveness. In response, FoodFriends seeks to enhance the onboarding process, incorporate a tutorial, or simplify its homepage. My task involved selecting a strategy to address this concern and creating and implementing corresponding screen designs.

Bookify

Bookify, an imaginary Australian desktop app soon launching in Europe, delivers monthly books tailored for individuals with reading difficulties like dyslexia, while also appealing to those without impairments. To enhance its offering, the European version will introduce a digital reader with reading and comprehension tools. To ensure usability for all users, I had to first identify primary and secondary users, conduct user research, brainstorm solutions, and create concept sketches or low-fidelity wireframes. Finally, I needed to develop high-fidelity mockups.

UX Scene Designathon

UX Scene organized a 48-hour Designathon where participants were encouraged to incorporate elements of the UX design process, including research, ideation, design, testing, and iteration, into their submissions. Projects could involve screen-based or non-screen-based solutions, or even physical products. A final prototype was mandatory, and any design platform that allowed easy access without special software was accepted. My team opted to focus on designing a user experience aimed at enhancing sustainability, healthcare, or education.
